Raewyn Caisley
Author
Raewyn’s work is featured in the Innovations Gallery of the new WA Museum Boola Bardip. She was recognised for her contribution to changing the lives of young West Australians with her very ‘West Aussie’ children’s books Hello From Nowhere, Meet Eve in the Outback, Something Wonderful and Rocky and Louie (which she co-authored with Noongar man Phil Walley-Stack) and through the thousands of inspiring talks and workshops she has given in schools and libraries all over the state.
Author of 35 books and winner of multiple awards she tells children to ‘always write from the heart’. Her sessions are emotional, inspiring, and empowering. They are peppered with fresh, original activities that will have students (and teachers!) writing better than they ever imagined but at the same time, to use Raewyn’s own words, they are ‘more fun than recess with cake!’
All sessions cover multiple curriculum areas but you can tweak your session to suit your class/school needs by focusing on one of Raewyn’s books. Perhaps you are introducing narrative, or poetry, or character, or place? Maybe you want someone for Naidoc Week or to talk about reconciliation? Or perhaps your focus is on STEM in which case Something Wonderful would be, well, wonderful…
Some lovely feedback on Raewyn’s presentations:
Inspirational, totally engaging presentation. Raewyn certainly made us feel that writing must be FUN! The tips and strategies she gave us will be invaluable in our language tool boxes.
